Going to Edmonton

This thursday my mom and I are going to Edmonton for a big dance competition. We are going to leave on thursday morning, and come back on sunday. My friends are competiting too, and one of them is in my group so I will be competiting against her. We dance on friday, at 12 o’clock, which isn’t very early considering I’ve had competitions start at 8 o’clock. Hopefully we will get to go to West Edmonton Mall while we are there, because I love shopping! I have been practicing for this competition for over 3 months, so I hope I do well!

Grandma Comes to Visit

Last week my grandma came to visit from Ontario. She stayed at our house for a week, and then she went to my aunt’s house for another week. While she visited she baked us a cake and gave my sister and I some presents. I got a bag of chocolate from her, which was very good! My sister got a word search book and a chocolate bar. It was really fun having Grandma come to visit, and I hope she can come again soon!

Halloween Night

On Halloween my friends and I went trick-or-treating for the last time. We decided it was our last year to go, so we went to more houses than we ever had and got so much candy! Since we dressed up as spies, we had to have some glow in the dark things! So we played with some glow-sticks and I made a pair of glasses and a headband. It took a long time-and a lot of tape! It was a very fun Halloween, and a great way to spend our last year of trick-or-treating!

Thanksgiving Weekend

This thanksgiving was not the best. On friday, I started to feel sick, and was in bed for the rest of the weekend. We were invited to a friend’s house on sunday night for a thanksgiving dinner, but I was sick so we could not go. So my mom made her own dinner and we ate a huge meal of turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, sweet potatoes and broccoli with pumpkin pie and ice cream for dessert. I happened to be well enough to go downstairs and eat, and it was delicious! I hope that next year will be even better!

Going to Portland!

This weekend I am going on a trip to Portland! On friday we are leaving at 11:30 in the morning and driving to our friends house (who are also going) to car pool. After a long 6 hour drive, we will finally arrive in Portland. The next day my friends and I are competing in a dance competition. And finally on sunday we will pack up and drive another six hours back home. I really hope this trip will be fun, and I hope we all do well at the competition!

Dance Dance!

One of my hobbies is Irish Dancing. I dance after school four times a week and on Mondays I do gymnastics to help with my dance. The classes are an hour and a half to two hours long and are in Maple Ridge, Abbotsford and Vancouver. This is my eighth year of dance, and I absolutely love it. I started because my friend wanted to try it, and after she quit, I kept going and have been dancing ever since.

In Irish dancing we do competitions often, to compete with other dancers around the world. Most of the competitions are local, but sometimes I get to travel to places like Nashville. Irish dancing is a really fun hobby of mine and I hope I can keep getting better at it!

Last Vacation!

My last vacation before school started was a trip to the United States, Portland and Cannon Beach. We went on the vacation with my friends from dance and their friends. We started by going to Portland, for two and a half days of my favorite thing…shopping! It was so much fun, and I got so many new clothes! At the end of the trip we put on a fashion show for all our parents to show off our new wardrobe. We got into partners and the parents judged our outfits. Unfortunatly, my friend Amber and I came in second place, because the winning team, my little sister and her friend, were so ‘cute’. But it was fun anyways!

After we went shopping, we continued our trip at Cannon Beach. The weather wasn’t great, but we had tons of fun. The first day we went to the beach. The waves were huge! Thery knocked us over and were freezing cold, but we loved it. When we were done in the water, we went to get some snacks and relax on the beach. So after eating some chips and a handful of gummies, Amber and I decided to build a sand castle. About ten minutes later, the dad’s and all of us were building together. The sand castle took a long time, and we finally finished by the end of the day. We went back to our campsite and had some dinner, then we watched a movie.

The next morning we wanted to go horseback riding, but it was raining and very windy. So we went for a walk into the town and then rented another movie. The whole day it rained, so we spent the day mostly inside.

The following morning it was time to go home. We packed up and prepared for a long drive home. The vacation was so fun! I would love to do it again, and it was a great way to end the summer!
